Knauf's 30th anniversary gift is coming together fast

Just recently, exactly one year ago in June, we left our office with high hopes and also with enough doubts to make way for the construction of a new, modern administrative building. Demolition and preparation work of the office took time, and it wasn’t until a late and Arctic-cold November day that we laid the capsule into the foundation of the new building.

Knauf's 30th anniversary gift is coming together fast

The administrative building complex includes a part of the office building, a part of the Knauf academy, an extended car park and a green area to protect the building from street noise and dust.

The management team of the office construction project – Signe Raupe, head of the Procurement Department, and Kristaps Puļķis, head of research, are smiling happily, even though the tension on the construction site was considerable at times. When asked about the progress of the process, Signe mentions that the construction process has been emotionally intense and for good reason – to build an administrative building in nine months is no small thing, the very beginning and preparation works are particularly difficult.

Signe explains that the implementation of such a smooth construction process has been possible only with this Design & Build approach, because it is a complete transfer of responsibility to the hands of the general contractor both during the design and construction stages, but at the same time it requires the customer’s daily involvement – constantly looking for the optimal solutions. The open book principle ensures that each construction estimate is agreed with the customer, seeing the real costs for each completed work.

This building will be a great reference object for Knauf materials, and I can confidently say that there is no public building in Latvia that has so many Knauf solutions at the same time.

While the greenery is growing near the new building, the builders are in a hurry to complete the final works – the transfer to Knauf as the customer is planned to be done by the 7th of July. Then there will be time to commission the building for the construction board, furnish it and transfer it to the employees as a gift for the 30th anniversary of Knauf.

The nomenclature of Knauf cases has been introduced

The new year began with several months of joint work in identifying, compiling and systematising Knauf documents. The cooperation resulted in the introduction of the nomenclature of Knauf cases. Its purpose is to make our work more productive and efficient by clearly storing all documentation in one place, according to its category. This factor not only makes it easy to navigate the documentation, but also ensures the continuity of document circulation.

The process of digitisation is underway at the Riga factory

Digitisation is entering all areas. This is simply the times we live in. In order to follow the norms dictated by the era of digitisation, the Riga factory, one of two (the other is the Castalina factory), has been selected as a pilot factory for the implementation of digitisation processes within the framework of Knauf.
