Colleagues actively participate in sporting events

As the spring and summer seasons approach, sporting events are starting to pick up. Colleagues are also waking up from the winter doldrums, shining their boots, flexing their muscles and going to conquer new sporting heights.

Colleagues actively participate in sporting events

The most popular among Knauf colleagues of all sporting events were Stipro skrējiens (Run of the strong) and the various stages of the Stirnu buks (Roe buck).

This year, Stirnu buks was opened by the Saulkrasti stage, which took place on the 23rd of March. Kaspars lesiņš tested his skills there, while two Knauf athletes – Viktors Bezrukovs and Sergejs Ružilo – took part in the next stage of the Suiti land Stirnu buks, which took place on the 20th of April. We will report on the other stages of Stirnu buks in the next magazine.

After a long break, Stipro skrējiens, which is Latvia's largest national endurance and adventure run, will be held again on the 4th of May 2024, the anniversary of the Day of the Restoration of Latvian Independence.
According to the event website, Stipro skrējiens is more than an endurance race. The event offers a new experience for every participant, forcing you to step out of your comfort zone and test your physical and mental endurance. These competitions build willpower and confidence in one’s abilities. Lending a helping hand to other participants on the track creates a sense of unity among the people of Latvia.

This year, a significant number of dashing Knauf guys took part in Stipro skrējiens. The Electricity Service is represented in a particularly large number (Anatolijs Bogdanovs, Viktors Bezrukovs, Sergejs Ružilo, Oto Vasiļjevs, Jurijs Bajandins, Ainars Jansons, Mārtiņš Birznieks, Eduards Antoņuks). Among the participants was the always sporty Kaspars Lesiņš.

In turn, the number of participants in the Salaspils marathon, which took place on the 11th of May, was almost unchanged. The boys' team of Anatolijs Bogdanovs, Viktors Bezrukovs, Sergejs Ružilo, Oto Vasiļjevs and Kaspars Lesiņš is joined by several representatives of the fair sex – Signe Raupe and Elizabete Lazda completed the Knauf run, while Ance Saulīte and Dace Grinberga represented the 10.5 km Nordic walking discipline. As every year, Knauf supports the Salaspils half-marathon as an event taking place in our neighbourhood by donating a bicycle.

And you can't do without the participation of Knauf athletes in the biggest Latvian running festival – the Rimi Riga Marathon, which took place this year on the 19th of May. Also in this event, the list of participants is almost the same (Anatolijs Bogdanovs, Viktors Bezrukovs, Sergejs Ružilo, Kaspars Lesiņš), but the difference is in the distances chosen. We would like to give a special mention to Anatolijs, who chose to run the 10 km distance, and Kaspars, who ran the half-marathon.

We wish all athletes to reach and exceed their personal bests!
